A teaser visual for the upcoming second season of Blue Lock has been released.
Additionally, it was announced that Eiji Mikami and Kakeru Hatano are joining the cast as Yo Hiori and Nijiro Nanase.
The anime continuation is set to premiere in October 2024. The first Blue Lock season started airing during the Fall 2022 anime season and ran for 24 episodes.
The anime is based on the Kodansha-published Blue Lock manga series written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. The manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in August 2018 and has 28 volumes as of March 2024. Kodansha USA describes the premise as:
After a disastrous defeat at the 2018 World Cup, Japan’s team struggles to regroup. But what’s missing? An absolute Ace Striker, who can guide them to the win. The Football Association is hell-bent on creating a striker who hungers for goals and thirsts for victory, and who can be the decisive instrument in turning around a losing match…and to do so, they’ve gathered 300 of Japan’s best and brightest youth players. Who will emerge to lead the team…and will they be able to out-muscle and out-ego everyone who stands in their way?
Blue Lock has a spin-off manga titled Blue Lock -Episode Nagi-, which written by Kaneshiro and drawn by Kota Sannomiya. Episode Nagi has been adapted into an anime movie.
