More Mashle: Magic and Muscles anime content is on its way, as production on a sequel has been announced.
There are currently two Mashle seasons, which premiered in April 2023 and January 2024. Both ran for 12 episodes.
The anime is based on the Shueisha-published manga by Hajime Komoto, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2020 and to 2023 and has been collected into 18 tankoubon volumes. Viz Media describes the premise as:
Mash just wants to live in peace with his father in the forest. But the only way he’ll ever be accepted in the magic realm is by attending magic school and becoming a Divine Visionary—an exceptional student revered as one the chosen. But without an ounce of magic to his name, Mash will have to punch his way to the top spot.
As of Season 2, the staff of the A-1 Pictures production includes Tomoya Tanaka (Engage Kiss) as director, Yosuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia) as series composer and script writer, Hisashi Higashijima (Blue Lock chief action director) as character designer, Takeshi Matsuda (Record of Grancrest War co-main animator) as action director and monster designer, Ryota Saito as another action director, and Masaru Yokoyama (Urusei Yatsura) as music composer.
The cast includes Chiaki Kobayashi as Mash Burnedead, Reiji Kawashima as Finn Ames, Kaito Ishikawa as Lance Crown, Takuya Eguchi as Dot Barrett, and Reina Ueda as Lemon Irvine.
