A new 15-second commercial has been released for the Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku? original TV anime series, which has been revealed to start airing in Japan on April 1, 2024.
The anime’s production committee also announced that a manga adaptation of the series, with original creator apogeego and illustrated by Torimura. The manga is told from the perspective of Akira Shononome and will be released on the free website KadoComi on March 25, 2024.


Tsutomu Mizushima (Girls und Panzer, Shirobako, Mayoiga) is directing the original anime series, with Michiko Yokote (Call of the Night) as series screenwriter, and Asako Nishida (Land of the Lustrous) as character designer. EMT Squared is in charge of the animation production.
Other staff members include Fumihiko Suganuma (The Aquatope on White Sand Episode 17 director, Shirobako the Movie co-storyboard artist and unit director) as chief episode director, Masanobu Nomura (Cyberpunk Edgerunners) as art director, Tomoko Koyama (Assassin’s Blade) as color designer, Jirou Tazawa (Lupin the Thrd ~Prison of the Past~) as compositing director, and Miho Tsujibaya (Restaurant to Another World co-composer) as music composer.


Meanwhile, the anime’s main voice cast consists of:

Shumatsu Train Doko e Iku? takes place in a town situated in a not-so-ordinary countryside, where strange happenings are affecting its residents. The story follows a young girl named Shizuru Chikura, who desires to see her lost friend. Shizuru and three other girls board an abandoned train to set out to the outside world, where their survival is uncertain. What awaits them at the final stop of the train?
